DON’T LET THE DEVIL IN - The Definitive Cut
In 2015, Courtney & Filmmaker Marc Slanger made what was to be the first “Appalchiasploitation” film entitled “Don’t Let the Devil in”. The film was based off of a short they had made in the same Appalachian town a year prior entitled “House on the Edge of Hell” for 27 dollars. Inspired by the late 70’s made for TV horror films, “Don’t Let the Devil in” features the final and only dramatic performance by Conrad Brooks (Plan Nine From Outer Space, Glen or Glenda, Ed Wood) and was made on a shoestring budget. Released nationwide in 2016, the film became the “Film in Residency” at Facet’s in Chicago and screened around the country. It was subsequently distributed on VOD, DVD and even VHS. The Soundtrack was released soon after on special edition tape cassettes.
In 2024, Sell teamed up with the ambient band “DROME” to re-edit and re-score the narrative, to which it is now considered the “Definitive Cut”. Cutting it down from an hour and 15 mins. to just 33 mins., the new version of the film, with the original new score, is now available to view for free HERE
The Definitive Cut had its world premiere in New York City in January of 2024.
